$ shrub --status # two apps shipped · one growing · california
Shrub Software is a small studio in California. The rule is simple: build the app I'd want on my own phone. That means it's fun to open, nice to look at, and never working against the person holding it.

so far
They don't share a theme. They share a standard.
say where you're going. see who can make it.
Post a ping. Every friend sees, on their own phone, whether they can get there in time, and taps I'm in. Friends only, two hours, then gone.
know when a chase is on the air.
Watches the LA news stations' live streams. When a police pursuit goes live, your phone gets one alert and the stream plays in the app. With a live map of the helicopters overhead.
explore the world. unlock your map.
Every step, drive or trip clears fog from your map. Watch your atlas fill in, light up countries, and see who among your friends has explored the most.

what makes the cut
01 / feel
An app should feel like a good object: quick, a little playful, made with some taste. Every screen gets the care most apps save for the icon.
02 / trust
No dark patterns, no manufactured urgency, nothing designed to keep you scrolling. If it uses your data, it says exactly what for, in a sentence you can read. The privacy policies are short on purpose.
03 / proof
Every app here is one I use daily. When something's annoying, it's annoying me first, and it gets fixed for that reason.
Say hello.A question, an idea, or something that broke. It lands with the one person who built it, not a queue.
