Every two minutes, ChaseScanner checks the YouTube channels of FOX 11, ABC7, KTLA 5, NBC4, and CBS2/KCAL9. A live stream whose title says pursuit or chase goes into the app and, if you have alerts on, to your phone. The app turns on CONFIG › Pursuit alerts only when you ask it to.
I didn't get an alert for a chase. There are three usual reasons. The station covered it on television or its 24-hour stream without starting a dedicated stream, which the app cannot see. The stream's title did not mention a pursuit. Or a second chase started within 30 minutes of the first; the app sends one alert per half hour so a busy afternoon does not turn into a burst of pings. The stream shows a link instead of a player. NBC4 does not allow its streams to be embedded. Tap the link to watch on YouTube.
The screen says NO SIGNAL. Nothing is live right now. Chases in Los Angeles happen a few times a month and last twenty to forty minutes. The Pursuit log tab shows what has happened recently.
Alerts show FAILED or BLOCKED. Blocked means notifications are off for the app in iOS Settings; the button under the status opens the right page. Failed means the app could not reach our server; tap retry, or turn alerts off and on.
Where are the helicopters? Free users get the live map for one minute a day; the countdown is in the section header. ChaseScanner Pro removes the limit and unlocks the full pursuit log. Pro is a monthly subscription with a 3-day free trial, from GET PRO on the main screen or in CONFIG. If you bought Pro on another device, tap RESTORE PURCHASES in CONFIG. The map is best-effort and can be empty when no helicopter is up.
How do I cancel? Subscriptions are managed by Apple: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, ChaseScanner. Cancelling stops future charges and Pro stays on until the end of the paid period.
How do I delete my data? Turn alerts off in the app. That disables the only thing we store, your device's push token. Email us if you want it deleted outright.
Watch from the couch. Never drive toward a pursuit or use the app while driving. Follow law enforcement instructions.
