ChaseScanner, by Shrub Software LLC. Last updated 26 September 2026.
These terms cover your use of the ChaseScanner app. They sit alongside Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which applies to every app from the App Store. Where the two differ, these terms control.
ChaseScanner is a news app. It tells you when a Los Angeles television station is streaming a police pursuit and lets you watch that stream. It is not an emergency service, a safety service, or a source of official information.
Do not go to a pursuit. Never drive toward, follow, or try to observe a police pursuit in person. Do not use this app while driving. Always follow the instructions of law enforcement. You are responsible for your own safety and your own decisions.
The streams belong to the stations that broadcast them and play through YouTube under the YouTube Terms of Service. Aircraft positions, when shown, come from adsb.lol. We do not control any of this content, and it may be delayed, incomplete, mislabeled, or wrong. A stream we tag as a pursuit may not be one, and a pursuit may happen without us noticing it.
The helicopter convergence readout is an estimate derived from aircraft positions. It is a hint, not a fact, and it is not an indication that anything is happening at a location.
We try to keep the service running, but we make no promise that it will be available, timely, or uninterrupted, or that any particular chase will produce an alert.
Use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes. Do not scrape, redistribute, or resell the app's data feeds, interfere with the service, or use it to break any law.
The full pursuit log and unlimited use of the live helicopter map are part of ChaseScanner Pro. Free users get alerts, live streams, chase status, and one minute of the helicopter map each day.
Pro is sold and billed by Apple through the App Store as a monthly subscription. It may start with a free trial; payment is charged to your Apple Account when the trial ends. Subscriptions renew automatically at the same price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account settings at any time, and cancelling stops future charges without refunding the current period. Apple's terms govern payment and refunds. Pro applies on every device signed in to the same Apple Account; use Restore Purchases in the app to bring it back.
The helicopter map is best-effort: aircraft positions come from ADSB.lol contributors under the Open Database License and can be delayed, incomplete, or unavailable. The aircraft data file the app reads is itself available under the ODbL.
The app is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of information.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shrub Software LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss or injury arising from your use of the app or from anything you do in response to information in it. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and continued use after a change means you accept it.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
